Richard was born in 1952 in Bradford, Yorkshire; the industrial heart of northern England. He attended both the Sheffield College of Art and the Kingston-upon-Hull College of Art, receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting in 1976. After earning his post-graduate teaching degree from Sussex University, he left England for warmer climates, ending up in the Southwest United States with his wife Sharon, where he pursued painting full-time.
Nota. - Wer wollte bestreiten, dass er malen kann? Aber von Können allein kommt auch keine Kunst, Herr Liebermann. Ein bisschen kommt es schon aufs Wollen an, aber nicht darauf, dass man will, sondern auf das, was man will. Was aber kann man noch wollen, wo alles schonmal da war? Stillleben, Naturalismus, sogar Hyperrealismus, Duchamp, Surrea-lismus, Popart, Walt Disney, Gott und was weiß ich... So ein Bild kann man auch digital herstellen, an diesem Stück kann man nur bewundern, dass er's ebenso so gut kann wie der Computer.
Hübsch anzusehen ist es aber, kann man nicht anders sagen.
